She responded on Twitter in the perfect manner — by pointing out that shallowness is the truly ugly quality, and we should focus on actual problems, like the people starving in the world, rather than a celebrity who may or may not have gained a few pounds.

Gaga undoubtedly knew that her body would inevitably be criticized by at least a few body-shamers due to her Super Bowl outfit. I give her major credit for not letting that stop her from wearing a revealing costume that she felt comfortable in. She performed some of her best-known songs, and subtly stuck it to the man with her song choices like Born This Way.

She danced, she jumped, she sang and she was amazing. More than once, we commented on how strong and in-shape she had to be to do it. Meanwhile, assholes on the internet decided to ignore her talent and instead point out that the woman has what we all have: skin on her stomach. Though it's unfortunate that any body-shaming went on last night, it's pretty awesome that the Internet came to her defense so hard.
